Global Candlelight Vigil, March 16, 2003

Archbishop Desmond Tutu, the Rev. Robert Edgar and other religious leaders called for candlelight vigils around the world on Sunday to say “yes” to peace and “no” to war with Iraq. At the same time as Tutu is speaking at a large rally at the Lincoln Memorial, over 6,800 other vigils held in 140 countries. Following prayers, songs and readings at St. George’s beginning at 7pm , Charles Sydnor staged a candlelight vigil downtown before returning to the church. The lasted for an hour and attracted 100 individuals.
