Cameron Thompson (1926 -2003)

Earl Baughman said of Cameron – “If you look up ‘nice guy’ in the dictionary you would find Cameron Thompson’s name there.” Cameron and Freeman Funk served as joint clerk of the works for the AIM 2000 program. AIM 2000 spent $1.47 million on building restoration and renovation in the 1990’s. They raised $718,000, borrowed $512,000 and collected other income $238,650 from 1994-2000 to fund the project.

He graduated from Episcopal High School and joined the class of 1949 C at Virginia Military Institute, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering. He served in the U.S. Army in World War II and with the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He then joined his father-in-law in business at Robert B. Payne Inc. He served as president of the company until his retirement in 1992. At. St. George’s besides his work on AIM 2000 he served on the vestry and was junior warden
